A bouquet was presented to Iris to express our thanks for allowing us the continued use of her home and garden for our Strawberry Teas over the years - this year's Tea being enjoyed as usual with the added benefit of a sunny day. Lots of items were on the notice board and final arrangements for our August outing were announced. Our ACWW representative, Mary, drew our attention to an article on sustainable water and irrigation growth in Third World countries which is so important in ACWW aims to help rural women feed and care for their families. Our divisional chairman then offered moral support and encouragement in our efforts to regroup after losing Paddy and expressed the hope that we would take part and enjoy the events planned for next year's 90th anniversary. Before we had our coffee break, Joy read a 'funny' about the frustrations of contacting services and companies by telephone and being met with recorded messages and choices, the conclusion being that it is easier to write a letter. Professor Rosemary Hails, then took the question 'G.M.Crops - should we be worried?' and gave a very balanced view of the dilemma in such a way that we felt much better informed on the subject. Quite an achievement! We have our outing in August so our next meeting at St Peter's Community Centre will be at 10am on Thursday, September 11. when Pam Goodall will be 'Riding it Out.'
