Tesco’s 2020 ‘naughty’ Christmas advert is out - watch it here

The annual flurry of Christmas TV adverts has started, and Tesco is the latest major retailer to premiere its festive promo for 2020. You can watch the advert above. The supermarket’s Christmas campaign for this year has been inspired by the difficulties that have arisen during the pandemic, which has seen people forced to spend time apart, face job and money difficulties, and adapt to ever-changing restrictions. No naughty list this year Tesco is encouraging the nation to forget about all of the ‘naughty’ things they have done this year and instead focus on treating themselves this Christmas. The humorous ad urges shoppers to tuck into the finest festive food and drink over the festive season, because we’re all in need of a pick me up. The advert opens in a Tesco store, before travelling across the UK, following multiple people as they prepare for the big day. Along the way, characters share their confessions which they worry may land them on Santa’s naughty list this year - from giving a bad DIY haircut to fibbing to the kids for a bit of peace and quiet, and even buying too much toilet roll. As they deliberate over whether they should be allowed a festive treat, the supermarket encourages viewers not to think twice, as they deserve a treat this Christmas after such a difficult year. The advert comes in a 60 second version, as well as two 30 second versions, and is set to the soundtrack of famous Britney Spears track Oops!...I Did it Again, with comedian Asim Chaudhry providing the voice over. Alessandra Bellini, chief customer officer at Tesco, said, “This year, customers were looking for something fun and uplifting, that would help spread a little joy.
