Helen, 20, is finishing her creation of a new website for the town council as part of her studies for an IT management for business degree. She said: "I'm making the website brighter and clearer. I've used a lot of the existing information but made it more organised. "It's been good experience to have the opportunity to do the work. Otherwise, I would just be doing modules at university. "I'm pleased with the result and it's definitely going to be good experience when I go to job interviews." Helen, who comes from Waterlooville, is living in Bognor while she is a student and is in the third and final year of her studies at the University of Chichester. She has designed the website into 25 sections. It will contain hundreds of pages of information. They will include details about the town council and its members and meetings as well as events and the area's attractions. She will have spent ten weeks working full time on the project when she finishes at the end of the month. Helen's involvement with the council came as councillors were looking to update their tired and jumbled site. It attracts some 700 users a week. More and more information has been added since it was created about seven years ago. Sue Holmes, the council's events officer, said: "The reaction of councillors to the work that Helen has done so far has been very positive. "They need to review her final efforts before the website is made available to the public. I would expect that to be in the next couple of months. "Councillors had recognised that work needed to be done on a new website. "But it's a major job and the staff don't have the time or the expertise to do it." "At the same time, the university offered us the chance of a student to work on the website and they decided to accept it. "We realise people need to be able to access information about the council on a website and that it needs to be user friendly and modern and professional." What do you think?
