A 26-year-old from Eastbourne has celebrated his formal commissioning as a Royal Navy Officer on parade at Britannia Royal Naval College.

Midshipman Alex Lucani was one of the latest group of Officer Cadets who took part in the passing-out parade, watched by their families, friends and distinguished guests. Admiral Sir Philip Jones, the First Sea Lord, was the VIP inspecting officer.

To earn his place on the parade ground, the budding weapons engineer completed an intensive 30-week training course, which was split into two distinct 15-week phases.
