Bowls: Arun are too strong for indoor and outdoor rivals

Outdoor club Norfolk, from Littlehampton, were the visitors to Arun for a six-rink annual mixed fixture.

Arun won on four rinks, lost on two and won overall 130-101.

Arun were 38 shots up at the halfway stage of ten ends but many of Norfolk’s bowlers do not play indoors and they played well in the second half to keep the shot difference down.

There was another excellent win for Arun in this men’s six-rink Sussex indoor league fixture. Arun won on four rinks and lost on two, gaining nine points. Top rink for Arun was rink four, who won by 18 shots.

Arun travelled to Grattons IBC in East Sussex for a six-rink annual friendly men’s fixture, winning on three rinks and losing on three but coming out the victors by 12 shots.

There was only a two-shot difference at the halfway stage of ten ends but good steady bowling in the second ten ends saw them home.

Arun Ladies 93 Wealden 52

Arun ladies are having a very good run in the Yetton Trophy. They played Wealden in the fourth round and won an excellent game as Arun outbowled Wealden home and away. Arun won by 41 shots.

The fifth round is against East Dorset today.
