THE annual general meeting took place on Saturday, October 11, and there was a higher than usual turnout.
Following a successful first year in office, Dennis Philpott, chairman, was elected to serve another term.

His first annual report highlighted the previous 10-year plight of falling membership, shrinking finances and low profile.

He was pleased to announce that following the committee's high-profile approach, their enthusiasm and hard work had reversed the trend.

A successful art exhibition in May and several promotional activities in Hastings helped to boost the membership.

The club, which was founded more than 100 years ago, meets on the second Saturday of every month at St John's Hall, Brittany Road, St. Leonards.

Its varied programme of worshops, art demonstrations, life model classes and lectures are open to artists of all levels.

For further information contact the membership secretary Betty Muffitt on 01424 434492.
