EXTRA buses are being provided for a race meet at Plumpton this Sunday (November 23) because of railway engineering works.

Chief executive of the racecourse Claire Sheppard said: "With the train station adjacent to the racecourse, we are very aware that many of our racegoers take the train to Plumpton races.

"When we heard about the extent of the engineering works, we asked local bus company C&S Coaches if they would help us.

"We will run free direct bus services from Berwick train station leaving at 11.25am and Haywards Heath train station at 11.45am, in addition to our usual Brighton service at 10.50am."

Complimentary buses will leave the racecourse at 4.15pm, one departing to Brighton via Lewes, and another to Haywards Heath.

Southern will also be running hourly bus replacement services to and from Lewes and Haywards Heath to Plumpton train station.

Full details of the services can be found at www.plumptonracecourse.co.uk or by calling the racecourse office on 01273 890383.
