Baird Court - demolition equipment

THE Sea Road-Station Road skyline changed this week as Baird Court, last home of television pioneer John Logie Baird, and adjoining Villa Maria felt the weight of demolition equipment.

Demolition in readiness for the construction of 51 flats follows a protracted series of Rother planning committee debates.

The Society of Bexhill Museums was among objectors to the application. The society said in November 2005 that it was "absurd" that anyone should consider demolishing Baird Court considering the inventor's international significance.
