Commuting advice for West Sussex motorists
The event is being backed by West Sussex County Council.
Cllr Derek Whittington, cabinet member for strategic planning and transport, said it aimed to raise awareness of the problems caused by increasing congestion and pollution, and how they could be reduced.
"It also highlights the problems caused by unnecessary car use and the benefits of using healthier and more sustainable modes of transport," he added.

"Motorists who drive to work can, for example, save up to 1,000 a year if they share with just one other person," said Cllr Whittington.

"Walking and cycling is a great way to save money '“ you could buy a bike for the cost of one month's petrol and you would never have to fill up again."

Hide AdThe week would encourage people to try walking, cycling, car sharing or travelling by public transport instead of using the car for some journeys.
"Commuters doing this just once a week could reduce their travel costs and the carbon footprint of their journeys by up to 20 per cent," said Cllr Whittington.
