County council advice as UK threat level stays at ‘severe’
Although police say they are not aware of any intelligence that link the Paris attacks to the UK, West Sussex County Council and the Sussex force are asking all residents to report any suspicious behaviour or activity immediately by calling the confidential anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321 or 999 in an emergency.
The county council is working closely with Sussex Police and other partner organisations, and there are robust plans in place to respond to incidents such Paris and Gatwick, while the situation is being continually monitored.

Hide AdCounty Council leader Louise Goldsmith said: “What happened in Paris was a brutal and terrible attack on innocent people. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the victims and their families at this most difficult time.
“The Gatwick Airport alert also confirms and reminds us that it is extremely important that we all work together to lessen the threat of a terrorist attack in our county and throughout the UK. I would urge everyone to be on their guard and be vigilant at all times, and report anything suspicious to the police.”
The UK threat level remains unchanged as “Severe”, which means a terrorist attack is highly likely. This threat level has been in place since August 2014.
More than 120 people are believed to have tragically lost their lives and around 100 were wounded following shootings and bomb blasts in the French capital.
