It will mean a brand new school and the choice for local youngsters to complete their post-16 education in Rye rather than having to travel to Hastings or Bexhill.
The entertainments industry, which includes areas of expertise such as sound, lighting and digital imagery, is one sector that is still flourishing and growing and offers well paid jobs.

Hide AdThe fact that Rye has been give the green light for a Studio School is a testament to Rye College Principal Ann Cockerham and her team.
Let’s not forget that Rye College was a failing school on Special Measures before Ann took over,
Now it is a vibrant, exciting place with greater learning opportunities that enjoys improved GCSE results year on year.
Recent years have also seen the College and its students playing a more prominent role in the community, livening up the town with their fantastic summer carnival, exhibiting work at Rye Art Gallery and getting involved in local fund raising, such as the bid to provide a new roof for the Women’s Tower.

Hide AdOnly last week College students, with their drums and brilliant costumes, played a big part in making the Olympic Torch Relay in Rye such a huge success.
The College is a real credit to the town as we are sure the brand new Studio School will be too.
