Roberstbridge promises a bonfire night extravaganza

There will be an early start for the village as a maroon will be let off at 7am to signify that the bonfire society members are starting to assemble the displays on the recreation ground.
The field will be closed to the public on Saturday and Sunday.

Hide AdThere will be gorgeous Guys abound on the field for the judging of the Guy Competition at 2pm, sponsored by Sandie at the Floral Boutique.
Station Road, High Street, and George Hill to Heathfield Gardens, The Clappers and Northbridge Street will be closed to traffic between 6pm and 10pm to allow the traditional torchlit procession to take place.
Anyone who parks in this area is strongly advised to move their vehicle for the duration of the event.
At 7.15pm a maroon will be sent up from the railway station to signal the start of the procession.

Hide AdThe procession will arrive at the recreation ground at 8.15pm.
At 8.30pm the bonfire societies will take part in the Bonfire Prayers around the fire, which will then be lit, followed by the firework display.
As usual, a street collection will be taking place and all spectators are urged to give generously as all the funds will be going to help local groups and organisations.
Organisers are warning visitors to Robertsbridge bonfire to ensure they give to official collectors only.

Hide AdAll legitimate collections will have identification and a bucket sporting the Robertsbridge Bonfire Society logo.
Anyone who would like to help the society out by collecting money on the night can pick up a bucket and ID from the Robertsbridge Club from 6pm on the day of the event.
The last hurrah for the 2016 bonfire season will take place at Hawkhurst next weekend.
