Timely call leads to three arrests
Sergeant Dave Costigan said: "Youths were seen tampering with a black Mercedes in a car park at the rear of the Seabourne Road shops last Thursday afternoon.
"A member of the public called us and gave an excellent description of what was occurring and the people responsible.

"Three youths were later arrested nearby.
"The two units then undertook enquiries.
"The three - all local to Bexhill and Hastings - were interviewed and bailed pending further inquiries after it was found that the car had earlier been reported stolen from Crawley.
"This is an excellent example of the public helping us.
"The quality of the description was such that the arrests were possible.
"It shows what can happen when you pick up a phone."
