A group of friends from Hastings are taking the drum and bass charts by storm following the formation of their own record label and regular air play on Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
Dangerous New Age (DNA) recordings latest release 'Self Medication', by special guest from Switzerland Uman and Dragon Scroll from Scoop and Rico, is riding high in the Urban Music Chart.
John Fitzgerald, aka Scoop, and Jordan Daly, aka Repitition, who is also a founder member of DNA, are National Diploma Music students at Hastings College and have joined forces with a collective of friends Milward, Mysterious, Rico, Shoby and Jeph to form the label.
In addition to the major interest from Radio 1 they have now secured a distribution deal with Nu Urban Music for all their releases.
Malcolm Levon, Head of Music at Hastings College, said:
"In addition to being very talented students, John and Jordan have a real passion for music that is helping the label become well known internationally. The deal with Nu Urban Music is a big step forward and one that will ensure a greater presence for them in the drum and bass scene."
Nerm and D-Code and Crissy Criss from Radio 1 and the 1Xtra show are amongst the growing list of international DJ's that are supporting Dangerous New Age recordings.
Scoop said:"It is a very exciting time for everyone at the label. It was obviously a step into the unknown when we first launched, but thanks to the support of friends, family and the drum and bass industry we have enjoyed a great start and are really looking forward to an incredible 2009."
