Littlehampton Town Football Club's hopes of reaching the first round proper in this year's FA Vase ended last night.

After earning a 1-1 draw in their second-round qualifying clash at division-lower Combined Counties Division 1 side AC London, Golds suffered a 5-1 replay defeat three days later.

Littlehampton boss Ady Baker felt his side were beaten by the better team on the day and said: “They were quality and deserved to beat us.

“Most of their players had some real quality and we found it difficult but we gave it a good go.”

A fine passing move was finished off with a thunder strike to put AC ahead on 15 minutes. Golds were back in it as Jack Cole levelled things up two minutes after the break.

But the travelling side pushed on in the closing stages, regaining the lead on 55 minutes, before netting a further three times to seal a 5-1 replay victory.

Littlehampton are back in league action with a trip to Haywards Heath Town on Saturday.
