The U’s were beaten 2-0 away to fellow Ryman Football League Division One South outfit Worthing in round three of the Parafix Sussex Senior Challenge Cup after conceding a goal in either half.
After losing only one of their first 10 cup matches this season, United have now lost their last three and this was their second successive two-goal defeat following Saturday’s reverse at Herne Bay in the league.

Worthing dominated the early stages and Callum Overton forced United goalkeeper Josh Pelling into a smart save. As United started to find their feet, Sam Cole’s shot was pushed aside by Worthing goalkeeper Jack Fagan.
The home side drew first blood in the 30th minute when Jordan Clark’s corner was headed in by Lloyd Dawes - who also netted in the weekend league draw at Ramsgate - via the post.
Worthing doubled their advantage in similar fashion in the 54th minute. Another Clark corner was headed in by Dawes, who soon afterwards was denied a hat-trick by a fine save from Pelling.

United: Pelling, Cumming-Bart, Cruttwell, Rowe, Ray, Walder, Medlock, Hollobone (Harris), Richardson-Brown (Attwood), Johnson, Cole (Crabb). Subs not used: Temba, Rose.
As previously reported, Little Common’s game away to Arundel in the same competition was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
